Installation


The correct operation of the API requires proper installation of the software components. The installation consists of the following steps:

Placement of the API trace utility (mgsltrc.exe and mgsltrc.chm) is the responsibility of the application provider.

PCI/PCMCIA hardware is automatically detected and the user is prompted for the source of the supporting software during the next login. ISA hardware is added using the Add Hardware Wizard and manually selecting the device software to install. API components are automatically copied to the correct destination as specified by the INF file during this process.

Windows 2000 includes obsolete Microgate drivers for some adapters that are installed automatically. These drivers must be uninstalled and the correct drivers from the Serial API must be installed.
